「だいたい本に書かれてる生理はなんかいい感じに書かれすぎてるような気がします。これはこれを読んだ人に、こう思いなさいよってことのような気がする。こないだも学校で、移動ん時に、誰かが、女に生まれてきたからにはいつか子どもは生みたい、みたいなことゆってて、単にあそこから出血する、ってことが女になるってことになって、それからなんか女として、みたいな話になって、いのちを生む、とかそういうでっかい気持ちになれるのはなんでやろうか…」(乳と卵 by 川上未映子)

“I just think that menstruation described in books is depicted too nicely. I feel like they’re telling readers to think in that particular way. A while back, when we were moving between classrooms at the school, someone said something like she wanted to give birth someday because she was born as a female and the consensus there was that just bleeding from down there meant becoming a woman, and then, we started talking about things to do “as a woman”, and I just wonder how you can feel so generous and think about giving birth etc..” (Breasts and eggs by Kawakami Mieko)
