I’ve seen Japanese commercials where they show “loving” cow/pig farmers. How do they manage to do that though? After naming the pigs, feeding them good food, making sure they don’t get sick, telling them how great they look (optional), and making friendship with them, you have to send them to a slaughter house.

I mean it’s better to provide a good life while the pigs are alive but still I feel like if I were such a farmer, I’d need two separate brains to put in my head every morning (one for loving and caring about them, one for thinking about how yummy their meat is). hmm..how do these farmers do that with one brain?

My mother is one of this persons… She used to care about chicken and ducks just to eat them 🙂 I think that is the idea that the chicken, ducks, cows (and pigs) are for this… to feed human bings 🙂 It can seems very cruel…
I eat meat, i think i can eat some animals i met and had good relation with them but i can’t kill them… contradictions…

That’s really interesting. I haven’t made friendship with any edible animals yet, so I’m not sure how I’d react if I get one.

I guess at the point of eating, the animal has turned into flesh without minds but in the process of killing, it can still show emotions and that’d certainly bother me..yet I eat meat and I feel I should be able to kill the animals if I were to eat them. Difficult situations..
