May I suggest that “pigeon” is a derogatory term for “dove”.

arent doves smaller than pigeons?
-
The term “dove” refers to the small and medium-sized birds, while large-sized birds like the Victoria Crowned Pigeon usually go by “pigeon.”
Cheers!

ok, so “doves” are “pigeons”, but “pigeons” aren’t necessarily “doves”. Did I get that right?
-
Joean: You should add that line to the wiki!
-
osayo: According to the wikipedia, you can safely use these two terms interchangeably on most cases (unless you’re talking to a bird expert).
But I feel that people often think of the white ones used as a peace symbol when we say “doves” and think of the urban ones for “pigeons”.

e- ja-sa, can we start calling that sekken “pigeon” instead of “dove”? cuz that sounds nasty.
-
Oh yes osayo. That sekken bird is definitely a pigeon.

I’m not quite sure I understand that?

Well…when people hear pigeons, they rarely think of white doves…
