I notice people in subway stations repeating the same thing over and over until the train comes. Those who are standing at the edge to see if the train is coming turns their heads away when their vision rays come across with the rays of other people who are standing ahead (towards the previous station) on the platform. When they turn around, their eyes catch the people behind them and they have to turn their heads back to the first direction while these people behin in turn look away to their behind.

I think you can make a music video using this scenario. At first, people doing this turning their heads around thing naturally and eventually synchronizing to the music and start dancing.

I asked myself: Would I rather be made of clay or glass? Glass would be pretty but fragile; clay would be kinda stinky but I can change the ways I look and can stand more impact.

Hmm…

kurikaeshi

I’ve blogged about a lot of nonsense matters. My only fear in continuing blogs is that someday, I might write about the same idea I’ve already addressed once…maybe I already have..

One of the ways to mark lab mice is to punch their ears. #1 would have a hole on the right, #2 would be one on the left, etc etc.

I’m not the biggest fan of animal experiments. I think these should be done as humanely as possible and only when absolutely necessary. I thought punching the ears would be like piercing our ears and thought that wouldn’t be too bad. However, I saw mice squirming their faces as their ears get punched (not by me) today. It occurred to me then that if 1/10 of my ears get punched, that would hurt like “a” hell (Mako likes to count hells).

If this procedure is necessary, at least put them to sleep…

There are certain kinds of food that taste bad when not eating with the “correct” utensils. For example, having miso-soup with a fork or a spoon. Or eating Manacotti with a tea spoon. These utensils do work except I don’t get as much joy from eating these foods…

Eating yogurt with a small coffee/tea spoon enhances the flavour for me though.

When I biol noodles/pasta, I sometimes put a lid on the pan without any vent space. As a result, the water boils out, so I usually let it vent. When I take away the lid to see how the noodles are doing, they quickly hide all the bubbles they were making to boil the water out of the pan. I feel like I’m checking on little kids who are planning some trouble in secret and pretend nothing is happening when mom sticks her head in their rooms.

I didn’t know the true meaning/origin of the golden rule and after I looked it up and learned it, I asked Mako, “Could you please sleep on my right side because I like to sleep on your right side…” Mako told me I didn’t understand the Golden Rule at all…

Maybe I’ll ask him to sleep on my left side next time.

I hate these first couple seconds of cold water time in a shower. I usually flatten myself against the wall under the shower head until the water gets warm.

I also hate it when I jump into the lukewarm shower thinking it’s going to get nukewarm and find out the water doesn’t get warm for like half an hour.

naku

What’s the evolutional benefit/meaning of shedding tears when being sad?

In my apartment, I check how windy it is outside not by looking at the trees outside (since there aren’t as many of those as Seattle..) but by looking at the toilet water. When it’s super windy outside, the toilet water makes waves on the surface just like those you see on cruise ships. It’s kinda cool.

I’ve yet to figure out why the toilet water is affected by the wind…

kaba

Everyone has a school site for hippopotamus in their brains. It’s very important to keep this place functional since this is where we form our thoughts and reasonings.

The Japanese word for hippopotamus is kaba and if you change the order of letters, it’s baka (not smart). The word baka was made when somebody confused ba (horse) with ka (deer). The disorder in the hippopotamus school site can confuse your mind.

Omega-3 fatty acid can help maintain the order there.

I was looking at a British passport and I saw a lion and a horse standing on their rear legs against some national mark. That picture reminded me of something; drag-queens. Those musculine animals standing on two feet are unnatural in a way similar to drag-queens who look obviously like just guys with a skirt and fake breasts. (http://www.stockphotography.co.uk/Store/App/f.asp?C=7 Go to: Misc/Abstract/Money, coins etc)

This doesn’t mean that all drag-queens look unnatural and poorly disguised. I’ve met one of the most beautiful “lady” at Washington DC gay festival. I thought sHe was a supermodel…I’d love to meet that queen again.

niterukamo

Audrey Hepburn in Charade (when she tries to disguise with sunglasses and a white(?) hood) + mustache = beautiful unabomber

I was searching for a fish tank for my betta-max on ebay. I saw a couple people selling “cat-shaped ” fish tanks. Then I thought I should make a geisha shaped fish tank – only the people who think about it hard can get the real message.

I wouldn’t put my fish in a cat/geisha shaped fish tank. That’s kinda mean…

doubutsu

Sometimes, I wish beagles were bagels. Not because I’m that hungry but because I heard that beagles are popular experimental subjects because they bleed well… I might feel less horrible if bagels were used to test mutations and such. Maybe. Maybe not. I like bagels too.

hazukashii

There are many things that I often feel too embarrassed to do in public; playing piano, giving a speech, cleaning fish for cooking etc etc. I find it kind of nerve-racking yo choose music in front of my friends. I feel like I’m showing parts of myself that I don’t usually show to people..it’s hard to hide myself that are being expressed in anything (i.e. art, music) other than facial and maybe verbal expressions.

waza

There are many many useful skills that I wish I had. I always thought that an ability to roar like a lion can be pretty useful when scary people or animals try to assault me. I wonder how a dog would react to my roaring…would they get scared by what they hear or would they trust what they see?

nukui

For a long time (actually until last week), I thought the word, lukewarm was “nuke”warm. I think the reason was probably because I was associating “nuke” with a japanese word for lukewarm “nukui”.

I can’t believe nobody corrected me on this for seven years. How embarrassing..I think I’m gonna start telling people that the water is “nuke”warm when it actually is boiling hot (like nuclear warm = hot). This way, only those who pay enough attention to me can avoid getting burnt.

gake

There have been almost no cockroaches in my kitchen. It’s getting pretty cold here and that’s probably why.

One of the last few roaches I saw decided to jump off from the kitchen counter. The counter is at least 1m high but the roach started running as soon as it landed. I wanted to ask it how it felt when it was falling down. What does it feel like to fall off a cliff without thinking you’re gonna die?

ito

My friend was talking about this place where they remove each piece of your hair with thread..I’m really curious. How does it work and why is it better than doing it with a twizzer??
