Either my tongue is too big or my mouth is too small — whichever the truth may be, it becomes problematic when I pronounce welsh ll.

Do you have crowded teeth? If so, it may be an impediment to your speech function.

Hrm, I didn’t know that the crowding of teeth could cause speech impediment…I’ve never been told that I have crowded teeth but perhaps I should ask next time I’m at a dentist.
