The choice of music while working out can be quite powerful. Julie London totally made me depressed about running on a treadmill. I thought that I was wasting my time doing meaningless repetitive movements. It made me think about all the good, warm, slow time that I could spend on drinking tea, reading books, writing blogs…I couldn’t run for much longer after she started singing.

Someday, I’ll play Julie London out loud in the gym to see how many people will stop forcing themselve move through machines..

When I think of the “turn of the century” in 19/20th centuries, I think of all these brown pictures with ladies and gentlemen and get the impression of old modernness.

But then, I’ve experienced the turn of the century as well and when I superimpose my –00 with 1900, I feel less advanced. I think about the people in 80 years looking back at our pictures – probably yellowed by then — and feeling the old modernness in us.

When I think of people who were born in 1881, that’s like when Shubert was still alive and it had been only 50 years or so since Beethoven died. Beethoven was somebody like Duke Ellington to us back then. And Duke will be like Beethoven as I will be like a person born in 1881 in 80 years or so.

I feel less modern.

I wonder if anybody has broken their front teeth by biting on raw carrots..I tell myself that that’s not possible when I accidentally do it but is it really impossible?

Last fall, I thought: I hate spring and summer.

This spring, I think: I hate fall and winter.

Should I call this a positive thinking? A nagative positive thinking?

There are some random things that I would like my picture to be “associated” with and there are others that I wouldn’t want to be randomly connected to. For instance, I wouldn’t mind it if my picture is on the same page as flapjack octopus but I’d be quite offended if google put my image as a search result for evermanella.

I wonder what’s the weirdest thing google has associated me with…

Dutch bottle scrapers are the best Nalgene bottle cleaner.

The beginning of a toilet paper roll is a mysterious thing. Sometimes, it’s very clear where it starts but other times, I can never find the beginning no matter how hard I look. I end up ripping the middle of some random sheet and even then, I still don’t see where the starting sheet was..

Oh toilet paper, you drive me crazy..

I saw an orange juice section with a wide variety of pulpiness. It made me really want to sneak in milk with a “no pulp” sign and see if people would stop and think: What is milk with “some pulp” like?

I just realized something that’s obvious; most fishes and other sea creatures have never seen and probably will never see fire.

I wonder how my betta, Betta-Max, feels when I put a candle next to his tank. Does he like it or does it scare him…

The best umbrella I’ve ever seen is a transparent umbrella that makes you look like a jelly fish. It covers down to the biceps, so you can avoid the rain from hitting your face when it’s windy and also prevent the umbrella from flipping and moving you around uncontrollably.

It was raindy today.
